Lindsey Weishaar 鈥�21 knew one thing when she chose Stevenson: she had to take advantage of the Bachelor鈥檚-to-Master's option to accelerate her career goals. 鈥淭he BS to MS option was something that made Stevenson stand out when I was looking at different schools. I really liked the idea of taking master鈥檚 level courses at no additional cost while I was still in undergrad," Lindsey says.
Having a solid background in Mathematics along with elective classes prepared Lindsey for success when she stepped into her internship at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield her sophomore year at Stevenson. As a Market Research intern, Lindsey utilized skills from her marketing and statistic classes, such as conducting research and data analysis. During her almost four years at CareFirst, Lindsey was able to lead a variety of internal research projects and surveys. 鈥淚 know I stood out and was offered the position because of my major and previous class experiences at Stevenson,” she remarks.
Another exceptional experience Lindsey was able to have while at SU was traveling over spring break to Spain for a course examining the relationship between math and art. Alongside faculty members and classmates, she visited Madrid, C贸rdoba, and Granada, studying the architecture in places like the Alc谩zar de los Reyes Cristianos, the Mezquita-Catedral, and the Alhambra.
Following her graduation from the Master鈥檚 in Forensic Accounting program, Lindsey now works for the Office of the Inspector General at the United States Postal Service. As part of the Office of Audit on their Property Condition Review Team, she assists with audits regarding the physical conditions of Post Office facilities around the United States.
鈥淭he classes I have taken as a Forensic Accounting major have helped me succeed so far in this role. My Mathematics background helps with the data analysis portion of my position, and my Forensic Accounting background helps with our audits and investigations.”
