For Cassandra, writing a few simple lines of code and watching them translate to a functional computer program is one of the thrills that comes with being a Computer Information Systems major.
Like many Stevenson students, Cassandra chose a minor to customize her studies. Pursuing a minor in Mathematics will allow her to combine coding skills with her aptitude for math in order to build a career track tailored to her interests.
Understanding the value of gaining real-world experiences in new environments, Cassandra put her experience thus far to work in an upper-level study-away management class – Rebuilding the Big Easy – that took her to Louisiana. Along with Stevenson faculty and fellow students, Cassandra spent eight days over Winterim building a new server system for a New Orleans elementary school.
Both inside and outside of the Stevenson community, Cassandra is growing to better understand not only her prospective field but also different settings, cultures, and people. With a professional summer job opportunity, Cassandra already feels confident that her time at Stevenson has prepared her for success after graduation as she delves into these “real world” opportunities.
