Rebecca, a Mathematics major with a minor in Information Systems, aspires to be a voice and mentor for young girls who want to pursue careers in STEM fields.
During her sophomore year, Rebecca received an internship with Booz Allen Hamilton, an information technology consulting company, through the National Security Scholars Program鈥攊ncluding a scholarship and fast-tracked security clearance. She also held an internship doing modeling and simulation work for internal Department of Defense client organizations the summer before her senior year, which turned into a full-time job offer following her graduation.
While at Stevenson, Rebecca took advantage of the many opportunities to get involved on campus. She was involved in Mustang Mentors, Best Buddies, and Mission: I鈥檓 Home; president of Kappa Mu Epsilon; treasurer for Delta Alpha Pi; member of Alpha Chi; student tutor coordinator at the Academic Link; and a student ambassador in the Admissions Office. 鈥淏efore college I kept to myself,” Rebecca says, 鈥渂ut the tight-knit community at Stevenson helped me open up and become the strong and confident leader I am today.”
Rebecca also studied abroad in Madrid, C贸rdoba, and Granada, Spain for a class that explored the unique relationships between math and art鈥攂roadening her perspective of not only her major but also other cultures.
From programming and solving problems, to teamwork and communication, Rebecca is motivated to take what she learned both inside and outside the classroom to pave the way for women in STEM.
